Boot Camp

Well it’s that time of year again. Presently at the firm we are transitioning from the Income Tax Review season into the CPA / PFS Live Review season. This tax season was particularly difficult for our clients and their advisers. The reality of the reinstatement of the Personal Exemption Phaseout and the limitation on Itemized Deductions became quite apparent to many of our clients. Also, the Net Investment Income tax, created to support the Affordable Care Act, gave shocking results to our clients, to say the least! Long story short, taxes are higher for almost everyone. For the second year, the Personal Financial Planning (PFP) Division of AICPA is sponsoring our Personal Financial Planning Boot Camp. The Boot Camp is part of our Live Review curriculum. The curriculum covers all areas in the PFP body of knowledge (income tax, estate, retirement, investment and insurance planning) in a systematic and highly engaging approach — and of course, I’m teaching!

The classes are not limited to CPAs, or CPAs preparing for the national PFP exam:  CFP®s and support staff at financial planning firms are also encouraged to attend the Boot Camp. Attendees of the class will be better able to focus their exam preparation on those areas where the most effort is needed. Even if participants are not taking the PFS exam, it is a great overview on how all areas of personal financial planning work together in order to serve your clients in excellence.

Upcoming classes:

May 5, 12, 22 & 29 – Virtual Classes

Here’s what attendees are saying about the Boot Camp:

“I want to thank you for a marvelous review course. I signed up to improve my financial planning capabilities; I had no thought that I would take the PFS exam – I knew I couldn’t book the 100+ hours of study I assumed necessary to pass the exam. But over the 3 days of your course that perspective changed, my expectations, at your confident urging, grew. You covered a lot of material efficiently, comprehensibly and (no small achievement) entertainingly. Your seminar equipped me and, as importantly, inspired me to attain the PFS designation. I just received my exam results via the email below. I have to credit you and your course for my passing score.
